Capt. Lawrence "Larry" Roppel, 76, of Punta Gorda passed away July 1, 2010. He was born February 12, 1934 in Cleveland, Ohio to Emily (Pekar) and Edward Roppel, Sr. Larry served in the US Army. He was worked in Human Resources with Caterpillar before retiring and moved to this area from Mentor, Ohio in 1996. He was a member of Mariners PGI Cruise Club, Charlotte Harbor Yacht Club, Life Member of VFW Post 1863 and past member of Grand River Ohio Yacht Club.
Larry will be greatly missed by his wife, Dorothy; sons, Michael (Debbie Redmond) of Mentor, OH and Steven (Debbie) of Upland, CA; grandsons, Ryan and Ian both of Upland, CA; brother, Edward (Marie) Roppel, Jr of Maple Heights, OH; step-sons, Donald Fulton and David Fulton both of Mentor, OH.
A memorial service in celebration of Larry's life will be held at 1:00 pm Sunday, July 4, 2010 at the Clubhouse on Rio Villa Lakes Circle.
